Winter Rink

The best Delaware River winter tradition will soon be back! The Blue Cross RiverRink and Waterfront Winterfest will be open from November 28 to March 1. It might be the best thing about winter.

In addition to just being a magical place to spend time, the Blue Cross RiverRink turns 20 this year! It remains Philadelphia’s only outdoor, Olympic-sized public ice rink. The Blue Cross RiverRink offers public skating sessions, parties, private functions, season-long special events, skate rentals and sharpening.

For the first time last year, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation created the whimsical Winterfest around the RiverRink. This pop-up space on the river was a precursor to this summer’s Spruce Street Harbor Park. The trees brought in to enliven the waterfront were covered in thousands of lights, dozens of firepits were lit to warm visitors, and food and drink was served in the heated indoor area. Local artisans sold their goods inside re-purposed shipping containers. Music acts came to Winterfest throughout the season to draw even more visitors to the Delaware River.

If the success of Spruce Street Harbor Park is any indication, Delaware River Waterfront Corporation continues to improve its pop-ups, and this years Winterfest will be an even more fantastic place to experience the Tidal Delaware.
