There are 33 million anglers in the United States, more than golf and tennis players combined. 4.3 million licensed anglers are within a 4 hour driving radius of Philadelphia. That’s why the Bassmaster Elite tournament is coming to the Tidal Delaware River next week! It’s an honor to host some of the most talented anglers in the world, and the Bassmasters are excited about taking on the challenges presented by the Delaware.
Highly decorated angler (and Delaware Valley Native!) Micheal Iaconelli has this to say:
“B.A.S.S. did a good job scheduling a tournament on a metropolitan, heavy tidal river. The Elite Series is the best of the best when it comes to tournament bass fishing. I’m really glad that we’re competing somewhere different, somewhere we don’t go every year, somewhere that takes a totally different set of fishing skills. It’s a good thing to put our feet to the fire, and I’d say that even if this wasn’t my home water.”

Starting Thursday, August 7th, the tournament sets off at the Frankford Arsenal (5701 Tacony St. Philadelphia, PA 19106) at 6AM and the weigh-in takes place at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing (211 South Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19106) at 3PM. There is more than just fishing happening at Bassmasters, though. Make sure to check out the events happening up and down the river. Watch the movie Jaws under the stars at Penn’s Landing on Thursday or check out one of the many on-water demos happening throughout the tournament.
