Check out the American Canoe Association’s kayak assessment to determine your skill level. Remember that paddling the Delaware River can involve maneuvering around large wakes and windy conditions, although some parts of the river are less busy.
If you rank lower on the skill level – you can still experience the river! Plan your adventure with an experienced guide, or learn how you can get the training and equipment you need to experience the river safely.
Motor boaters and sailors should review regulations before any trip. In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, boaters are required to obtain a boating safety certificates prior to operating a personal watercraft:
